Role Description

This is a full-time remote role for an Azure Databricks Migration Expert. The expert will be responsible for leading migration projects, analyzing data, troubleshooting issues, and performing database migrations. Daily tasks include planning and executing data migration strategies, resolving technical issues, and ensuring successful transition to Azure Databricks.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead Azure Databricks migration initiatives for large-scale enterprise data platforms.
  • Migrate workloads, pipelines, and applications from legacy/on-prem/other cloud platforms to Azure Databricks.
  • Optimize Databricks clusters, jobs, and cost models (FinOps awareness is a plus).
  • Work closely with architects and data engineers to design scalable migration frameworks.
  • Perform performance tuning, validation, and cutover activities.
  • Ensure knowledge transfer and documentation of migration processes.
  • Support post-migration problem management teams in stabilizing workloads.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 3-7 years of IT experience with strong hands-on expertise in Azure and Databricks.
  • Experience in end-to-end Databricks migrations (design, execution, validation).
  • Strong understanding of Spark, Delta Lake, ADF (Azure Data Factory), Synapse, and related Azure services.
  • Familiarity with FinOps and cost optimization strategies in cloud migrations.
  • Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills in large-scale data environments.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, especially in a global team setup.
