The Environment and Supply Chain Innovation (ESCI) group is seeking a Senior Process Safety Engineer with experience in running safety in high hazard environments, who can drive outstanding safety practices globally, knowing People come first in every thing we do at Apple. We are looking for someone who holds a critical responsibility in ensuring the safe implementation and operation of emerging manufacturing technologies across our global supply chain. As the Senior Process Safety Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in assessing, mitigating, and handling high hazards associated with new manufacturing processes. Apple is looking for a passionate and experienced safety professional with a track record of driving positive change multi-functionally.
Description
Lead the safety evaluations and analysis of hazards associated with emerging manufacturing technologies, collaborating closely with multi-functional teams to identify potential risks and develop effective hazard control strategies. Conduct detailed process hazard analyses (PHA), including HAZOP, FMEA, and QRA, and ensure that appropriate safeguards are implemented. Establish methodology of presenting and supervising corrective actions identified during PHA process-to include verification procedures. Drives scoping & implementation of engineering safety/ hazard mitigation design strategies Develop and implement robust safety and health hazard management programs, aligning with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices. Collaborate with engineering, operations, and EHS teams to ensure adequate control methods and considerations are fully coordinated into project plans and operational procedures. Develop and deliver training programs for employees and contractors, raising awareness of high hazard categories and promoting a strong safety culture across the organization. Challenge generally accepted supply chain, design, and feature rules to expedite progress towards proactive safety solutions; work towards multi-functional implementation. Deliver high-quality results on time, taking ownership of issues and tasks with an appropriate sense of urgency, and making hard calls when needed Requires constant multi-functional engagement with ESCI program teams, communications, product design, material specialists and automation systems authorities. This role will also collaborate with others across operations and procurement to exercise commercial leverage on the supply chain.
Minimum Qualifications
- 7 or more years of EHS experience
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Occupational Safety, Process Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Fire Protection Engineering, candidates with relevant engineering experience or a related field; advanced degree preferred
- Consistent in developing and managing process safety programs
Preferred Qualifications
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate sophisticated technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong project management skills, including the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and run numerous projects simultaneously.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze data and formulate strategic recommendations
- Experience leading sophisticated programs including setting goals, vendor management and aiming to roadmap with multi-functional dependencies
- Experience in the electronics industry (supply chain)
- Proficient in Apple applications (Pages, Numbers, Keynote)
- Knowledge and awareness of risk assessment tools and methodologies
- Experience developing effective management systems
- Understanding of continuous improvement cycle and effective applications
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (10% time)
