Senior Process Engineer – Oil & Gas

Role Summary:

A Senior Process Engineer in the Oil & Gas sector leads and oversees the design, development, optimization, and troubleshooting of process systems involved in the exploration, production, refining, and transportation of oil and gas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead process engineering activities for upstream (E&P), midstream, or downstream projects.
  • Develop and review PFDs, P&IDs, heat and material balances, and process simulations (using HYSYS, Aspen Plus, etc.).
  • Design and specify process equipment (separators, heat exchangers, compressors, etc.).
  • Perform process safety analysis (HAZOP, LOPA, SIL assessments).
  • Evaluate process performance and recommend improvements for efficiency and safety.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (mechanical, instrumentation, operations).
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards (API, ASME, ISO) and company procedures.
  • Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers and support project management.
  • Assist in commissioning, start-up, and troubleshooting of new and existing facilities.

Typical Requirements:

  • Education
    : Bachelor's or master's degree in chemical or Process Engineering.
  • Experience
    : 8–15+ years in oil & gas process engineering (upstream, midstream, or downstream).
  • Software
    : Proficient in simulation tools (HYSYS, Aspen HYSYS, PRO/II, Pipesim).
  • Certifications
    : PE License or chartered status is preferred.

Skills
: Strong knowledge of process design, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and safety regulations.
