Job Summary:

The Commis Chef assists senior kitchen staff in preparing, cooking, and presenting food according to company standards. This entry-level role is designed to help develop culinary skills, maintain kitchen hygiene, and ensure smooth kitchen operations while supporting senior chefs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the preparation and cooking of dishes under the supervision of senior chefs.
• Follow recipes, portion control, and presentation standards consistently.
• Maintain high levels of kitchen hygiene, cleanliness, and organization.
• Store food items properly and check freshness/quality of ingredients.
• Assist in stock rotation (FIFO) and inventory management.
• Clean and sanitize workstations, utensils, and kitchen equipment.
• Learn and practice proper cooking techniques and kitchen safety.
• Support the Demi Chef de Partie / Chef de Partie in daily operations.
• Uphold food safety, HACCP, and health & safety standards.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Basic culinary knowledge or diploma in culinary arts (preferred).
• Previous experience in a professional kitchen (helpful, but not always required).
• Strong willingness to learn and grow within the culinary field.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
• Good teamwork and communication skills.
• Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and holidays.
