Job description for Open Search QE:
We are looking for a highly motivated
Quality Engineer
to support testing and validation of data ingestion workflows into
OpenSearch
, leveraging
AWS Batch
and
AWS Glue
. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with OpenSearch queries and dashboards, strong analytical skills, and the ability to understand and validate Java-based backend systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and execute test strategies for OpenSearch-based data platforms.
• Validate data ingestion pipelines using AWS Batch and AWS Glue.
• Develop and maintain test cases for OpenSearch queries and indexing logic.
• Use OpenSearch Dashboards to monitor, visualize, and validate ingested data.
• Analyze and understand Java code to trace data flow and identify potential issues.
• Collaborate with development and data engineering teams to ensure data accuracy and system reliability.
• Automate test scenarios and integrate them into CI/CD pipelines.
• Document test results, defects, and provide actionable feedback.

Mandatory Skills

• Strong expertise in OpenSearch query syntax, filters, aggregations, and performance tuning.
• Experience with OpenSearch Dashboards for data visualization and validation.
• Hands-on experience with AWS Batch and AWS Glue for orchestrating data ingestion.
• Ability to read and understand Java code, especially related to data processing and API integrations.
• Proficiency in Python, Java, or other scripting languages for test automation.
• Familiarity with REST APIs, JSON, and schema validation.
• Experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions) and version control systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in software testing or quality engineering.
• AWS certification (e.g., AWS Certified Data Analytics, Developer Associate) is a plus.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Kibana or other OpenSearch-compatible visualization tools.
• Knowledge of AWS CloudWatch, S3, and IAM for monitoring and access control.
• Exposure to ETL workflows, data lake architectures, and data modeling.
• Background in performance testing and load testing tools (e.g., JMeter, Locust).
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies, JIRA, and test management tools.
