Job Summary:
We are seeking a proactive and guest-focused Duty Manager to oversee daily operations at our luxury Resort & Spa in the Canary Islands. This pivotal role ensures the seamless functioning of all departments during a shift, while maintaining exceptional service standards and guest satisfaction. The Duty Manager acts as the primary point of contact for guest concerns and ensures that operational, health & safety, and service quality standards are met consistently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and support daily operations of Front office departments.
- Act as the Manager on Duty during assigned shifts, ensuring efficient running of the resort.
- Handle guest complaints and service recovery professionally, ensuring high levels of guest satisfaction.
- Monitor staff performance and ensure adherence to resort policies, grooming standards, and service protocols.
- Ensure a safe and secure environment for both guests and staff by overseeing health & safety procedures.
- Liaise with departmental heads to address operational issues and communicate guest feedback.
- Conduct regular property walks to ensure cleanliness, maintenance, and security standards are upheld.
- Support the Front Desk team during peak periods with check-in/check-out processes and concierge services.
- Ensure accurate logging and communication of incidents, complaints, maintenance issues, and staff matters.
- Assist with emergency procedures and act as point of contact for local authorities when needed.
- Maintain a high level of visibility on the floor and build positive relationships with guests and staff.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Hospitality Management or related field preferred.
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in a supervisory or managerial role in a 4 or 5-star resort/hotel.
- Strong understanding of hotel operations, including front office, housekeeping, and guest services.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Fluency in English and Spanish; additional languages (e.g., German, French) are a plus.
- Proficiency with PMS systems (e.g., Opera, Protel) and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle emergencies effectively.
- Flexible with working hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
