Department Description

Allica is a business that is undergoing rapid growth and transition. Having already launched a range of successful SME banking products and started work on a ground-breaking business current account, we're now focusing on extending and enhancing our digital capabilities and customer experience across the bank. That's where you come in. We are looking for a world class Product Designer to join our Design Team, helping to build the tools that make the bank run efficiently and drive Allica to the next level.

Role Description

You'll be working with Head of Design, Lead Designer, and product squad to deliver best in class design solutions for our loan processing software – a product that aims to make complex underwriting and fulfilment processes effortless for internal and external users. You'll help drive the design vision and lead collaborative, user-centric design activities within your product squad. You'll help make sure we're designing and shipping the right things.

Principal Accountabilities

• Designing and shipping high-quality, user-centred improvements that make our internal tools faster, clearer, and easier to use—always rooted in real user needs.
• Embedding deeply in your squad. You'll collaborate closely with product owners, engineers, and analysts to scope, build, and ship solutions that solve meaningful problems and support business growth.
• Owning your product area. You'll help define the vision, shape the roadmap, and lead the design from early concepts to polished UI.
• Working across the full design lifecycle from translating insights into ideas, to user flows, , prototypes, high-fidelity UI, and into production.
• Building a strong understanding of our users. You'll contribute to research, dig into behaviour data, and turn insights into informed design decisions.
• Validating ideas early and often. You'll use rapid prototyping, user feedback, and experimentation to learn what works and iterate quickly.
• Advocating for design at every level. You'll help raise the visibility of design across the business and support the growth of our practice and team.
• Contributing to our design system. You'll help evolve how we work, scale our visual language, and maintain consistency across products.
• Supporting a culture of continuous improvement, whether it's our tools, our ways of working, or how design contributes to the wider business.

Personal Attributes & Experience

At Allica, great design isn't just about what you make — it's about how you think, collaborate, and deliver.

• You're a thoughtful, empathetic product designer. You should have 5+ years' experience and a portfolio that shows solid UX and UI design across real products in mobile and web.
• You simplify complex problems into clear, human-centred solutions. You think in systems, design with intent, and communicate ideas visually and verbally.
• You work fast and smart. You break work into sprints, clarifying goals early, and using AI tools to explore, validate, and accelerate your design process without compromising quality.
• You're evidence led. You dig into data, challenge assumptions, and test ideas quickly to build confidence before scaling solutions.
• You bring strong visual craft in typography, layout, and UI polish. You always anchoring design decisions in usability and behavioural insight.
• You're technically aware. You design with platform constraints in mind, collaborate closely with engineers, and understand the downstream impact of your work.
• You give and receive feedback well. You're open, direct, and focused on raising the quality of the work through critique, not consensus.
• You take ownership. You know your product, improve the way teams work, and raise the bar for process as much as output.
• You're excited to shape the future of design. You will be working in a rapidly growing company, alongside people who care deeply about doing great work, creatively applying technology to push what's possible in financial services.
