Competency Mapping Specialist - PedagogyRole SummaryWe are seeking a Competency Mapping Specialist - Pedagogy to lead the design and implementation of teacher competency frameworks focusing on pedagogical skills and instructional excellence. This role is pivotal in defining clear teaching standards and aligning training programs with those standards, ensuring educators across various levels meet and exceed quality benchmarks. The Specialist will operate in a dynamic, high-accountability environment and must drive results with minimal supervision, contributing to a national effort to elevate teaching practices.

Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop Pedagogical Competency Frameworks: Create, refine, and maintain a comprehensive competency framework for effective teaching practices (lesson planning, delivery methods, classroom management, differentiated instruction, etc.), aligned with national education policies and 21st-century learning goals. Training Program Alignment: Work closely with curriculum developers and teacher training institutes to integrate the competency framework into professional development programs and certification courses. Ensure that training content and methods foster the required pedagogical competencies.

Stakeholder Collaboration: Engage with school administrators, government education departments (SCERT, NCERT) and private educational organizations to advocate for competency-based pedagogy. Provide expert guidance on implementing competency standards in classroom observations, teacher appraisals, and mentoring programs. Evaluation and Improvement: Design tools and processes to assess teachers' pedagogical competencies.

Analyze teaching performance data and feedback to identify gaps. Recommend targeted interventions or coaching to address deficiencies and document improvements over time. Research & Innovation: Stay updated on emerging trends in pedagogy, adult learning, and teacher competency standards (e.g., NEP 2020 initiatives).

Introduce innovative practices and continuously update the framework to reflect global best practices in teaching and learning. Project Management: Lead and manage projects related to teacher competency mapping, ensuring timely completion of deliverables. Maintain clear documentation and report progress regularly to senior leadership.

Required QualificationsEducation: Master's degree in Education (M.Ed.) with specialization in Curriculum & Instruction, Pedagogy or a related field. A Ph. D. or M.Phil. in Education is an advantage.

Certification: B.Ed. (Bachelor of Education) is mandatory. Additional certifications in teacher training, educational research or related areas will be a plus.

Required ExperienceTeaching & Training: Minimum 7 years of professional experience in the education sector, with at least 3 years in teacher training, academic mentoring, or curriculum design focused on pedagogy. Experience as a senior teacher or teacher educator in either government (e.g., DIET/SCERT) or reputable private institutions is essential. Competency Frameworks: Demonstrated experience in developing or implementing competency-based education models or teaching standards.

Proven track record of driving improvements in teaching quality through structured programs. Project Leadership: Hands-on experience leading educational projects or initiatives, preferably involving multiple stakeholders and requiring change management. Essential Skills & CompetenciesPedagogical Expertise: Deep understanding of instructional strategies, learning theories, and classroom methodologies.

Familiarity with competency-based education and the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 vision for teacher development. Analytical & Evaluation Skills: Ability to design assessment rubrics for classroom observation, evaluate teacher performance data, and translate insights into actionable improvement plans. Communication & Coaching: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Able to conduct impactful workshops, coaching sessions, and presentations for educators. Knowledge of Hindi or other regional languages is an asset. Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills to work with diverse stakeholders - from government officials to school leaders and teachers.

Ability to drive consensus and inspire adoption of new practices. Accountability & Initiative: High sense of ownership and responsibility. Proven ability to work independently, meet strict deadlines, and deliver high-quality outputs.
