Electrical Purchase Engineer

1. Estimation and Costing:

  • Analyse project requirements and electrical designs to prepare detailed cost estimates.
  • Calculate material, labour, and overhead costs based on project specifications.
  • Prepare Bill of Quantities (BOQ) for electrical projects.
  • Evaluate vendor and supplier quotes for accuracy and competitiveness.
  • Provide cost breakdowns and detailed proposals for tender submissions.
  • Assist in value engineering to optimize project costs while maintaining quality.

2. Procurement and Purchase:

  • Source and procure electrical components, materials, and equipment (e.g., cables, transformers, switchgear, panels, etc.).
  • Evaluate and negotiate with vendors to obtain the best pricing and terms.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with reliable suppliers and vendors.
  • Ensure timely delivery of materials to meet project timelines.
  • Maintain purchase records, vendor performance reports, and related documentation.
  • Monitor market trends to ensure cost efficiency and identify new suppliers.

3. Project Support:

  • Work closely with the design and engineering teams to align purchases with technical specifications.
  • Coordinate with the project management team to address material shortages or delays.
  • Review and approve material submittals from suppliers.
  • Ensure all procured materials comply with quality and regulatory standards.

4. Budget Management and Reporting:

  • Monitor project budgets and expenditures to ensure costs remain within allocated limits.
  • Identify and report potential cost overruns or savings opportunities.
  • Generate cost variance reports and recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Maintain detailed records of estimation, procurement, and purchase activities for audits.
