How will you make a difference?

We are seeking a collaborative and highly motivated Staff Data and AI Architect to join our Architecture team, to drive innovation and enhance customer experiences through impactful artificial intelligence, data and cloud solutions a. As a member of the Wabtec IT Data & Analytics (DnA) Team, you will be responsible for:

• Design, architect, implement and provision scalable enterprise-grade AI/ML/Data systems solutions
• Integrate AI/Data technologies seamlessly with existing business and IT infrastructure
• Develop comprehensive technical strategies for AI/Data implementation
• Collaborate with AI/Data champions to assess and integrate cutting-edge AI tools, technologies, and frameworks
• Optimize state-of-the-art algorithms in distributed computing environments
• Implement AI/Data initiatives in cloud computing platforms (AWS, Azure, OCI)
• Implement containerized deployments using technologies like Amazon EKS
• Ensure alignment of AI solutions with business objectives
• Provide technical guidance to the development teams on complex situations.
• Provide solutions and implement solutions for complex scenarios
• Implement MLOps best practices for AI design, testing, deployment, and maintenance
• Stay current with advancements in AI, machine learning, and data science
• Translate external best practices for adoption within Wabtec
• Deep dive into complex business problems using data-driven insights
• Take part in designing the AI as a service Architecture and Data as a service architecture
• Evaluate the cost for implementation/usage for an AI/Data architecture
• Build, Support and Architect self-service platforms.

What do we want to know about you?

You must have:

The minimum qualifications for this role include:

• M.S., or Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Machine Learning, Operations Research, Computer Science, Economics, or a related quantitative field
• 5 years of experience developing and supporting AI/Data products in a production environment with 10 years of proven relevant experience
• Profound knowledge of modern AI architecture and Generative AI technologies
• Extensive experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining AI/Data systems
• Extensive experience in cloud infrastructure provisioning
• Proven track record as an AI/Data Architect in cloud computing environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, OCI) and distributed computing platforms, including containerized deployments using technologies such as Amazon EKS (Elastic Kubernetes Service)
• Expertise with Hands-On experience into Python, AWS AI tech-stack (Bedrock Services, Foundation models, Textract, Kendra, Knowledge Bases, Guard rails, Agents etc.), ML Flow, Image Processing, NLP/Deep Learning, Terraform, PyTorch /TensorFlow, LLM's integration with applications.
• Good stakeholder management skills to achieve successful project outcomes
• Experience with MLOps
• Understanding of End-to-end AI/ML/Data project lifecycle management
• Experience with building AI as service and Data as service.
• Experience with estimating cost for implementing proposed AI/Data architecture and solution

Preferred qualifications for this role include:

• Extensive hands-on experience with enterprise-level Python development, Spark development, Big Data technologies, and machine learning model deployment at scale.
• Proficiency in cutting-edge AI technologies, including generative AI, open-source frameworks, and third-party solutions (e.g., OpenAI)
• Preferred: AWS with AWS AI services.
• Experience in industrial/transportation AI applications.
• Certifications in AI/ML technologies.

We would love it if you had:

• Fluent with experimental design and the ability to identify, compute and validate the appropriate metrics to measure success
• Demonstrated success working in a highly collaborative technical environment (e.g., code sharing, using revision control, contributing to team discussions/workshops, and collaborative documentation)
• Passion and aptitude for turning complex business problems into concrete hypotheses that can be answered through rigorous data analysis and experimentation and good architecture

What will your typical day look like?

• Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with our Internal stakeholders to understand their needs and partner with them to build solution architecture.
• Use Generative AI and machine learning techniques and build LLM Models & fine-tuning, Image processing, NLP, model integration with new/existing applications, and improve model performance/accuracy along with cost effective solutions.
• Support DnA Team: Support the DnA team, resolving technical issues and provide suggestions.
• Build the Cloud Infrastructure and implement the roadmaps build for it.
• Evaluate the cost of implementation/usage of an AI/Data solution.
• Building AI/Data frameworks.
