Job Purpose:

The Lead - Plant Maintenance (Mechanical) manages the mechanical maintenance team, ensuring that all mechanical equipment in Nacelle & Hub production is maintained to high standards of reliability and safety. This role provides technical leadership in troubleshooting, implements reliability improvement initiatives, and ensures compliance with maintenance standards and SAP requirements.

Responsibilities

Mechanical Maintenance Management

  • Lead the mechanical maintenance team in executing maintenance tasks, including preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance on all mechanical equipment in Nacelle & Hub production.
  • Plan and oversee mechanical maintenance activities, ensuring compliance with safety standards, SOPs, and manufacturer specifications.

Technical Troubleshooting and Problem Solving

  • Provide expert troubleshooting of mechanical systems, utilizing diagnostic tools and techniques such as thermography, vibration analysis, and hydraulic testing to identify and resolve equipment issues.
  • Lead root cause investigations for mechanical failures, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

Reliability Improvement and Process Optimization

  • Implement reliability improvement initiatives, such as lubrication management, alignment corrections, and precision maintenance techniques to enhance mechanical equipment performance.
  • Use FMEA and RCM methodologies to identify potential failure modes and design maintenance strategies to mitigate risks.

Work Order Management and SAP Compliance

  • Ensure all mechanical maintenance activities are documented within SAP, managing work orders, tracking maintenance history, and ensuring accurate reporting.
  • Utilize SAP for planning, scheduling, and tracking maintenance activities, ensuring compliance with internal controls and data accuracy.

Spare Parts and Inventory Management

  • Oversee the management of mechanical spare parts inventory, ensuring critical spares are available and optimizing stock levels to reduce carrying costs.
  • Collaborate with procurement to evaluate and select suppliers, ensuring the quality and availability of mechanical components.

Safety and Compliance Adherence

  • Enforce mechanical safety standards, including the use of appropriate PPE, compliance with LOTO procedures, and adherence to machine-specific safety guidelines.
  • Conduct safety audits and risk assessments for mechanical maintenance tasks, addressing any identified risks.

Team Leadership and Skill Development

  • Lead and mentor the mechanical maintenance team, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback to enhance technical skills and adherence to best practices.
  • Conduct technical workshops and training sessions focused on advanced mechanical maintenance techniques and safety protocols.

Equipment Condition Monitoring

  • Implement and manage condition monitoring programs, including vibration analysis, thermography, and oil analysis, to predict mechanical failures and schedule proactive maintenance.
  • Analyze data from monitoring systems to identify trends and potential mechanical issues before they impact production.

Continuous Improvement and Lean Maintenance

  • Drive continuous improvement in mechanical maintenance processes, applying Lean techniques to reduce waste, improve response times, and enhance maintenance efficiency.
  • Participate in Kaizen events, focusing on mechanical process enhancements and reliability improvement.

Stakeholder Communication and Reporting

  • Provide regular updates to the Head of Maintenance and other stakeholders on mechanical maintenance performance, including key metrics such as downtime, repair times, and cost efficiency.
  • Prepare detailed reports on mechanical maintenance activities, highlighting significant achievements, challenges, and future improvement plans.

Qualifications

Educational Background

  • BE in Mechanical Engineering.

Work Experience

  • 8+ years of experience in mechanical maintenance in an industrial setting.

Industry Knowledge

  • Specialization in mechanical maintenance, equipment troubleshooting, and reliability engineering.
