Responsibilities
We are looking for a Staff Software Development Engineer to our Shared Platform Services team. Reporting to the Director of Software Engineering, you'll be responsible for:
- Designing, building, and scaling our cloud data analytics platform, responsible for the ingestion, processing, and querying of terabytes of endpoint telemetry
- Engineering and maintaining a scalable alerting and incident detection engine using Python and workflow orchestrators
- Optimizing our data platform for cost, performance, and reliability. You will own the architecture and mentor other engineers, building a system that is robust and enhanceable by the entire team
What We're Looking For (Minimum Qualifications)
- 5+ years of professional experience in a data engineering, backend, or SRE role with a focus on large-scale data
- Creating and managing insightful Grafana dashboards and other visualizations that provide clear, actionable views of our system's health and performance for engineering, support, and leadership
- Strong programming skills in Python, particularly for data processing, automation, and building data pipelines
- Expert-level proficiency in a query language like SQL or Kusto Query Language (KQL), with proven experience writing complex queries and optimizing their performance.
- Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud provider
What Will Make You Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications)
- Direct experience with our current stack: Azure Data Explorer (ADX), Grafana, and Apache Airflow
- Familiarity with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools like Terraform or Bicep
- Demonstrated experience building and managing systems for the following: big data analytics, time-series monitoring, alerting/anomaly detection, or data visualization
