About the RoleWe are seeking a highly experienced WordPress freelancer with a strong background in website maintenance, security, and performance optimization. The ideal candidate has over 6 years of hands-on WordPress experience, is detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced, high-expectation environment. This is a remote freelance position, but availability during U.S. business hours is mandatory.

We're looking for someone who is responsive, proactive, and reliable—with excellent communication and quick turnaround on tasks. Key ResponsibilitiesPerform routine maintenance, updates, and security checks on multiple WordPress sites. Ensure site backups, malware scans, plugin/theme updates, and compatibility testing are done regularly.

Monitor and respond to security vulnerabilities, including firewall rules, brute force protection, and user access audits. Optimize site performance (page load speed, caching, CDN integration, etc.). Troubleshoot and resolve urgent issues quickly (downtime, bugs, security breaches).

Work closely with the design and content teams to implement changes without compromising performance or security. Maintain clear documentation of all updates, configurations, and changes made. Must-Have Skills6+ years of proven WordPress development and maintenance experience.

Strong knowledge of WordPress core, PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS, JavaScript. Expertise in WordPress security best practices and tools (e.g., Wordfence, Sucuri). Familiarity with cPanel, WHM, hosting environments, and domain/DNS management.

Experience with staging environments, version control (Git), and rollback procedures. Ability to handle tasks independently and respond quickly to issues or requests. Comfortable working during U.S. business hours with quick communication on Slack, email, or other team channels.

Nice to HaveExperience with WooCommerce and multisite environments. Familiarity with performance tools like GTMetrix, Lighthouse, and Cloudflare. Prior agency or multi-client experience.
