Title: Associate Editor

About the role:

As an Associate Editor in the Editorial team, you will primarily be editing conference presentations and documents. You must possess editing skills and an eye for detail. A great fit for the role is a multi-tasker who can collaborate with different teams and stakeholders. The job requires an individual with good communication skills, a firm understanding of grammar and punctuation, ability to manage workflow, respect for timelines, and commitment to self-improvement and development.

What you will do:

  • Edit reports, conference presentations and time-sensitive deliverables.
  • Format documents and prepare them for editing.
  • Make changes to content (typically in Google Docs and Microsoft PowerPoint) using Gartner's content management system.
  • Raise queries for clarity and highlight inconsistencies in the document.
  • Take initiative to check and confirm fact-based statements, statistics, and other content in written research, as necessary (e.g., verify company and product names, etc.)
  • Work on additional projects as needed and demonstrate complete ownership of the tasks/projects.
  • Undertake continuous, job-related training to maintain editorial quality levels and improve individual skills.

What you will need:

  • Master's or Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Liberal Arts or in other relevant discipline
  • 0 to 3 years of editorial experience, preferably working for newspapers, magazines, or journals, in a busy environment that is deadline driven.
  • Editorial experience with a newspaper/publication would be an added advantage.
  • Good command over the English language, including grammar and punctuation.
  • Knowledge of AP Style Guide would be an added advantage.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Collaborative attitude and no-limits learning mindset.
  • Capable of delivering error-free and consumable content.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with others.
  • Ability to understand and quickly adapt to new processes, best practices and changes to style.
  • Working knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint, as well as their Google equivalents.
  • Ability to handle pressure and stress without compromising quality.
  • Detail-oriented approach to work with good organization skills.
  • Problem-solving mindset and a willingness to take the initiative while mitigating risks.
