About the Role:
As an Engineering Manager for CrowdStrike's Technical Operations team, you will lead a team of engineers in a production environment with tens-of-thousands of bare metal and virtual compute nodes. This involves a live-site first mentality for real time response to issues, site readiness, monitoring of a complex network of assets, procurement and provisioning of new resources, new data center assets, and the systems administration of core functionality for engineering.
What you'll do:
- As an Engineering Manager at CrowdStrike, you'll lead a talented team of engineers responsible for our virtualization platforms, bare metal systems, and critical data center operations.
- You'll drive technical excellence by mentoring your team, conducting code and process reviews, and fostering an environment of continuous learning while managing on-call rotations to ensure 24/7 reliability.
- Working with VMware, OpenStack, MaaS, and storage systems, you'll architect and implement scalable solutions that support our rapidly growing global security platform.
- You'll collaborate across teams to align infrastructure initiatives with business objectives, while ensuring your team has the tools and resources they need to succeed.
- Your leadership will be crucial in maintaining and enhancing our infrastructure security, monitoring systems, and automation capabilities, ultimately supporting CrowdStrike's mission to stop breaches worldwide.
What you'll need:
- MS in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 12+ years of engineering experience, preferably in a production role
- 3+ years of hands-on management experience leading engineering teams.
- Solid design and problem-solving skills with demonstrated passion for engineering excellence, quality, security and performance.
- Strong cross-group collaboration and interpersonal communication skills working with variety of roles including engineering, product management, project management, etc
- Experience leading teams working with one or more of the following technologies: Linux, VMWare, FreeBSD, Storage Area Networks, Site Readiness (SRE)
- Experience with OpenStack, Nova, Juju, Charms, etc. for virtualization and bare metal
- Background with design and implementation of object storage environments
- Hands on experience managing block-level and object-based storage solutions at large scale (100+ PB)
Bonus Points:
- Exposure to/experience with cybersecurity and intelligence.
- Experience with on-prem storage (block and object) solutions
- Experience with AWS S3
