About UsThe Image Guided Robotic Systems (IGRS) group, originating from IIT Madras' Healthcare Technology and Innovation Centre (HTIC), pioneers affordable and accessible healthcare solutions through collaborative innovation with engineers, medical professionals, and industry leaders.
By integrating computational robotics, computer vision, medical imaging, AR/VR, and mechatronics, IGRS drives advancements in image-guided navigation and robotic-assisted procedures to enhance patient outcomes globally. What You'll DoAs a Systems Engineer, you will:Engage with surgeons and clinical experts to gather requirements through Voice of Customer studies and translate them into technical specifications.
Conduct market research to identify opportunities for innovation and define the competitive landscape for Navigation and Robotic applications. Define product performance metrics, validation metrics, and streamline the product/clinical workflows to ensure the efficient system meets its intended use. Define system requirements and safety architecture, ensuring compliance with standards like IEC 60601 and ISO 13485.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate subsystems and validate the entire system's functionality and readiness. Drive product development from concept to clinical trials, overseeing prototyping, testing, and regulatory documentation. Assess product risk as per ISO 14971 and ensure thorough system-level verification and validation for safety and performance.
What We're Looking ForExperience:2+ years in product management and systems engineering, ideally in robotic surgery or navigation. Technical Skills:Strong expertise in defining system requirements and safety architecture for surgical technologies.
Practical knowledge of product development lifecycles, from market research to clinical validation. Familiarity with surgical technology processes, including navigation and robotic systems. Preferred Skills:Knowledge of joint kinematics (eg, spine, knee, etc.), implants, and joint arthroplasty procedures.
Exposure to surgical navigation, robotic assistance, and virtual/mixed reality technologies. Understanding of safety standards (IEC 60601 series, ISO and regulatory requirements (CDSCO, FDA, CE). Educational Qualifications:Master's or Bachelor's with equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related domains.
