Location: MIDC Nighoje Chakan, Pune

Experience: 7~10 Years

Education: Diploma/Degree in Mechanical Engineering/Tool & Die Design

Job Responsibilities:

1. Tool Design & Development:

o Design & develop progressive, compound, and transfer dies for sheet metal stamping components.

o Designs & Develop prototype tools

o Create 2D/3D CAD models, layouts, and detailed drawings using software like AutoCAD, CATIA, Forming suit.

o Ensure design feasibility based on material properties, production requirements, and cost constraints.

o Create detailed 2D drawings and 3D models for VMC, wire cut & die maker/fitter

2. Die Design Optimization:

o Perform simulations and feasibility analysis using FEA tools to validate the die design.

o Optimize die layouts to improve material utilization and minimize scrap.

o Suggest design modifications to enhance tool life and minimize maintenance downtime.

3. Prototype & Trial Support:

o Collaborate with production and tool room teams for tool trials, debugging, and improvements.

4. Process Planning & Standardization:

o Develop stamping process plans, including blank development and forming sequence.

o Standardize design guidelines for tool manufacturing and ensure compliance with industry best practices.

5. Vendor & Supplier Coordination:

o Coordinate with tool BOP parts & process vendors, and suppliers.

o Evaluate tool manufacturing feasibility, cost estimates, and lead times.

6. Cost & Quality Control:

o Monitor tool manufacturing costs and suggest improvements for cost reduction.

o Conduct root cause analysis for tool failures and recommend corrective actions.

7. Documentation & Compliance:

o Maintain tool design documentation, revision history, and BOM (Bill of Materials).

o Ensure compliance with automotive industry standards (IATF 16949, ISO, etc.).

8. Material & Process Selection:

o Identify appropriate tool material w.r.t. sheet metal materials based on strength, weight, and cost considerations.

o Ensure manufacturability by considering stamping, laser cutting, bending, welding, and other fabrication processes.

9. Technical Documentation:

o Technical discussion & feasibility studies, APQP

o Prepare engineering drawings with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) as per industry standards.

o Maintain design records, BOM (Bill of Materials), and technical specifications.

• Strong expertise in AutoCAD, CATIA, Forming suit, or other CAD software.

• press tools, die designing, and sheet metal stamping processes.

•FEA simulation software for formability analysis.

• Understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)

• Experience in designing tools for automotive body parts, chassis components, or structural sheet metal parts.

• Hands-on experience in die maintenance, tool tryouts, and stamping operations.
