Key Responsibilities:

Process Design: (Sheet metal Parts)

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand customer specifications and requirements.
  • Design of Die Layout using 3D CAD software, such as CATIA, that meet customer specifications.
  • Conduct feasibility studies to determine the optimum Process design approach for a given project.
  • Analyse and optimize the Simulation results using simulation software, such as Auto Form or LS-DYNA, to ensure they meet Part formability & customers specific requirements, such as stress analysis, material selection, and forming analysis.

Manufacturing Process Optimization:

  • Develop efficient processes, to optimize production output, minimize waste, and reduce production costs.
  • Work with the tool room to ensure that the process is manufactured according to specifications & Customer's requirements.
  • Co-ordinate tool try-outs with production engineers to ensure that dies are manufactured to meet all quality and production requirements.

Customer Relations:

Support customer visits, when necessary, to discuss Process design, formability issues and manufacturing capabilities.

Qualifications and Skills:

Technical Competencies:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in Process design and formability Simulation, preferably in the automotive sheet metal parts.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software, such as CATIA, and simulation software, such as Auto Form or LS-DYNA.
  • Experience with concept of CNC machining, EDM, & Manufacturability.

Working Conditions:

Process Design & Simulation Engineers typically work in an office environment but may spend time on the manufacturing floor to oversee tool try-outs or troubleshoot production issues. This position may require occasional travel to customer sites or manufacturing facilities.

This role may also require working extended hours or weekends to meet project deadlines or production schedules.
