Sr. Design Engineer - Plumbing & Fire Fighting.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Plumbing & Fire Fighting Design Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the design, development, and implementation of efficient and safe plumbing and fire protection systems for a variety of building projects. This role requires a solid understanding of relevant codes and standards, good problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop detailed plumbing and fire fighting system designs, including layouts, schematics, and specifications, in compliance with relevant experience and international codes and standards (e.g., NBC, NFPA).
  • Perform hydraulic calculations for water supply, drainage, and fire suppression systems.
  • Select appropriate plumbing fixtures, piping materials, pumps, and fire protection equipment.
  • Prepare detailed drawings and specifications using AutoCAD.
  • Review and analyze project requirements, including architectural drawings and client specifications.
  • Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, electrical engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of building services.
  • Conduct site visits and surveys to gather necessary information and verify existing conditions.
  • Assist in the preparation of cost estimates and tender documents.
  • Review shop drawings and material submittals for compliance with design specifications.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to project teams during construction and installation phases.
  • Ensure all designs adhere to safety regulations and environmental standards.
  • Stay updated on the latest industry trends, technologies, and code changes.
  • Troubleshoot design-related issues that may arise during construction or operation.
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations as required.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in the design of plumbing and fire fighting systems for various building types (e.g., residential, commercial, industrial).
  • Proficiency in hydraulic calculations and software used for these calculations.
  • Excellent drafting skills using AutoCAD. Familiarity with BIM software (e.g., Revit) is a good plus point.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings.
  • Good problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Familiarity with sustainable design principles is an advantage.
