Background of The Hans Foundation

The Hans Foundation (THF), established in 2009, is a Public Charitable Trust that works towards creating an equitable society to enhance quality of life for all through the empowerment of marginalized and underprivileged communities in India. The Hans Foundation works for the Health and Wellbeing of remote and under-served groups, with an additional focus on children, persons with disabilities and women. THF also works for holistic Education and Livelihood development of our communities. Our Two-Fold Strategy involves identifying and working within Aspirational Districts and high poverty index in the North, North-East and East regions within specific states, as well as catering to lower-income and migratory populations in cities, through urban programs.

Over its 15 years of existence, THF has reached more than 35 million beneficiaries through its programs. THF works with communities through direct implementation of projects on the ground in addition to providing local management and monitoring support to not-for-profit organisations in India funded through THF USA and RIST.

Background of the Project

Project: Hans Skill Centre

THF - Skiil Centre has been conceptualized with a focus on Empowering and training underprivileged youth in various technical skills and to make them ready for jobs/self-employment.

The initiative aim to its ambitious program of 20 Swasthya cities for providing doorsteps services to urban based EWS population in metros and mini metros in the thematic areas of Health, Education, Skilling and Disability for holistic development and creating equitable society.Skilling of urban youth is extremely essential element of developing healthy and prosperous society. THF as a part of its endeavour in contributing towards nation building has taken up progressive initiative in training youth in multi skilling covering Pan India with focus on 20 Swasthya Cities.

Job Brief

Deliver Spoken English, Soft Skills, IT Skills, Retail Training and other work related training their Livelihoods targets either taking up work or further education and support them to achieve these targets through the The Hans Foundation Livelihood skills training programme.Mobilize, counsel and create training pathways for each trainee consisting of Spoken English, Soft Skill, IT, Retail and vocational training to enable youth to realize their career goals

Responsibilities

 Deliver a structured induction programme to each group of youth starting the Livelihood Programme.

 Take responsibility for all training activities in the Livelihood Centres under The Hans Foundation's programme, which provides skills training and supports youth into jobs or higher education.

 Deliver training content developed by The Hans Foundation's Programme Development Team, tailoring it to the local context while ensuring session outcomes are achieved.

 Ensure training outcomes are consistently met, and youth receive clear and uniform messages across all interventions.

 Collaborate with the Centre Coordinator to design an effective Livelihood Centre training timetable and monitor it regularly.

 Apply innovative, interactive, and engaging training techniques to make sessions effective and enjoyable.

 Conduct comprehensive one-to-one needs assessments with youth to identify their strengths, limitations, and training requirements.

 Partner with the Centre Coordinator or career counsellors during needs assessments to

provide impartial information, advice, and guidance.

 Act as the lead trainer during the first phase of youth engagement, ensuring each participant receives the full programme offer.

 Assist youth in preparing Personal Development Plans (PDPs) with clear training

activities and targets.

 Support youth in achieving their PDP goals in partnership with Placement and Partnership Officers.

 Lead the mentor-matching process and support mentors to perform their roles effectively.

 Engage and motivate youth, ensuring they are informed about their schedules and attend the correct sessions.

Job Description – Skill Trainer

Centre Coordinator/Centre Manager

Skill Trainer that empowers youth to take up employment or further education. Work with youth to identify

 Maintain a strong focus on counselling and training to ensure successful placement, further

education, or training outcomes, and monitor youth for six months post-placement.

 Contribute to mapping local institutions (government, NGO, private, and corporate)

offering training and employment opportunities.

 Monitor attendance, conduct mid-programme reviews, and take proactive steps to reduce

dropout risks.

 Build trusted relationships with youth from the start of the programme.

 Collaborate with colleagues in communities to ensure effective mobilization and fair selection of youth.

 Work with district and regional teams to improve programme quality, ensuring a safe and enjoyable learning environment.

 Collect data and prepare reports to demonstrate programme effectiveness.

 Act as a role model, displaying behaviours that inspire youth to succeed in their chosen fields.

 Support mobilization of youth from local communities and contribute to mapping

mobilization areas.

Desired Competencies

 Ability to build positive relationships with youth and inspire them to achieve career or education goals.

 Excellent communication and facilitation skills, capable of leading structured sessions and ensuring training outcomes.

 Strong teamwork skills with good oral and written communication in Hindi/local

language and English.

 Well-organized working style with strong time management.

 Proactive, problem-solving mindset with a "can-do" attitude.

 Willingness to work evenings and weekends when required.

 Ability to conduct sensitive and comprehensive needs assessments.

 Skilled in collecting and processing data in line with programme KPIs.

Qualifications & Experience

 Bachelor's degree in any stream (specialization/diploma in a relevant domain is an

advantage).

 Minimum 1 year of experience working with disadvantaged youth (18–32 years), with proven positive outcomes.

 Direct experience in delivering employability and Spoken English, Soft skills, IT Skills, Retail training.

 Strong skills in training session design, planning, and contextual adaptation.

 Experience in evaluating training effectiveness and updating methods accordingly.

 Proven ability to create and manage training schedules.

 Experience in Retail training (desirable).

 Basic computer literacy and English-speaking skills.

 Understanding of youth needs related to employment or further education.

 Experience in needs assessments, PDP creation, and target setting with youth.

 Familiarity with employability skills, job placement, youth development, or vocational training programmes.

 Experience working with or managing mentors (desirable).

 Experience reviewing training progress against individual targets.

 Experience engaging with stakeholders in disadvantaged communities (Parents,

Colleges).

 Experience providing youth guidance on career and education choices.
