Role Description

The Robotics Engineer – Drones will be responsible for developing, integrating, and testing autonomous flight control systems, navigation algorithms, and sensor fusion modules for Eldyne's drone platforms. The role involves working on path planning, real-time control systems, and payload automation to enhance drone functionality and efficiency. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to prototype, validate, and optimize robotics components for production-grade drone operations.

We're Looking For:

  • Bachelor's degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Electronics, or Aeronautical Engineering (Master's degree preferred).
  • 2–5 years of experience in robotics, automation, or UAV control system development.
  • Hands-on experience in ROS (Robot Operating System), PX4/Ardupilot, and autonomous navigation frameworks.
  • Proficiency in C/C++ or Python for embedded programming and control algorithm implementation.
  • Knowledge of sensor integration (LiDAR, IMU, GPS, camera-based systems) and sensor fusion techniques.
  • Strong understanding of control systems, kinematics, and dynamics of UAVs or robotic systems.
  • Experience in simulation environments such as Gazebo, MATLAB/Simulink, or AirSim.
  • Ability to develop, test, and tune PID and other control loops for stability and precision.
  • Familiarity with communication protocols (CAN, MAVLink, UART, SPI, I2C).
  • Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and system integration skills with a collaborative mindset.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and integrate robotic control systems for autonomous drone operations.
  • Implement and tune flight control algorithms for stability, navigation, and obstacle avoidance.
  • Develop path planning and motion control modules for various drone applications.
  • Integrate and calibrate sensors such as IMU, GPS, LiDAR, and cameras for accurate data fusion.
  • Work with embedded and PCB teams for hardware-software integration and performance optimization.
  • Conduct simulation testing and field validation of control algorithms and mission logic.
  • Optimize code for real-time execution and system efficiency on embedded platforms.
  • Collaborate with mechanical and software teams to ensure robust design and flight reliability.
  • Troubleshoot issues in flight systems, sensors, and embedded code during prototyping and trials.
  • Document design workflows, test results, and control parameters for production release.
  • Continuously research and integrate emerging technologies in robotics and drone autonomy.
