Deputy Area Manager - Debt Management Services - Settlement and Waiver Unit
About The Role
The Deputy Area Manager - Debt Management Services - Settlement and Waiver Unit is responsible for overseeing and managing the daily operations of the Settlement and Waiver Unit within the Debt Management Services department. This role involves ensuring the effective resolution of outstanding debts through settlements and waivers, while maintaining compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and customer service standards.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise and lead the Settlement and Waiver Unit, providing guidance, support, and performance management to team members.
- Develop and implement strategies for effective debt settlement and waiver processes to maximize recovery and minimize losses.
- Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs), preparing reports and recommending improvements as necessary.
- Ensure all settlement and waiver activities are conducted in compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and company policies.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including legal, compliance, and customer service teams, to resolve complex cases and improve processes.
- Handle escalated cases, negotiations, and customer inquiries regarding settlements and waivers.
- Contribute to the development and review of policies and procedures related to debt management, settlements, and waivers.
- Participate in training and development initiatives for staff to enhance team capability and service delivery.
- Maintain accurate documentation and records for all settlement and waiver activities.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field. Postgraduate qualifications are an advantage.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in debt management, collections, or financial services with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Strong knowledge of debt settlement, waiver processes, and relevant regulatory requirements.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Proficient in MS Office and relevant debt management software.
- Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to detail and high level of integrity.
Work Environment- Office-based with occasional travel as required.
