Core duties

  • Machine operation: Operate slitting machines to cut materials like paper, metal, or film into strips of a specified width.
  • Machine setup: Prepare the machine for a job by adjusting blades, setting rollers, and feeding the material correctly.
  • Monitoring: Oversee the machine's operation to ensure it runs accurately and to prevent malfunctions.
  • Quality control: Inspect finished products to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.
  • Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and make necessary adjustments to the machinery.

Safety and compliance

  • Follow all safety protocols, including wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Ensure the work area is clean, organized, and free of hazards.
  • Report any accidents, incidents, or unsafe practices immediately.
  • Operate machinery with awareness of surrounding forklift and crane traffic.

Additional responsibilities

  • Material handling: Handle both raw material rolls and finished products, using equipment like forklifts or trolleys when necessary.
  • Record keeping: Maintain records of machine operation and production output.
  • Waste management: Dispose of or sort waste material according to regulations.
  • Teamwork and training: Collaborate with other team members and may be responsible for training new operators.
