Ab Initio Data Engineers

In this role, you will contribute to the design and development of large-scale data engineering solutions, enabling organizations to manage, process, and govern data efficiently. You will work across the full data landscape, including ETL pipelines, governance, and metadata management, while collaborating with diverse stakeholders. This position offers the opportunity to solve complex data challenges using Ab Initio, Databricks, and Azure technologies, while playing a critical role in analytics, compliance, and reporting initiatives. Accountabilities

As an Ab Initio Data Engineer, you will:

• Design, build, and optimize large-scale data processing and governance solutions using Ab Initio, Databricks, and related technologies.
• Work closely with stakeholders to gather requirements, translate them into technical specifications, and deliver solutions on time.
• Manage the end-to-end development lifecycle, from requirement analysis and design to implementation, testing, and delivery.
• Create source-to-target mappings, data models, and technical documentation for analytics and reporting.
• Support data governance efforts including metadata management, lineage, and data quality initiatives.
• Collaborate with business, technical, and cross-functional teams to resolve data issues and ensure adherence to quality standards.
• Apply agile methodologies to manage changing priorities and deliver projects effectively.
• Mentor peers, share best practices, and contribute to continuous improvement within the team.

To succeed in this position, you should bring:

• A Master's or Engineering degree in Computer Science, Information Sciences, or related fields.
• At least 4 years of hands-on experience in data engineering, management, and governance.
• Strong expertise in Ab Initio (GDE, Express>IT, Conduct>IT, MetadataHub).
• Proficiency in Databricks with solid skills in PySpark and Spark SQL.
• Experience with databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, Netezza, as well as cloud platforms like Snowflake, Redshift, Synapse, or BigQuery.
• Knowledge of Azure data services including ADF, Databricks, and Synapse Analytics.
• Proven background in data modeling for warehouses, marts, or lakehouses.
• Solid understanding of data architecture, warehousing principles, and governance frameworks.
• Familiarity with agile delivery models and the full SDLC.
• Strong communication skills to document requirements, manage stakeholders, and present solutions clearly.
• Azure Data Engineering/Analytics certification (preferred).
• Industry experience in banking or financial services is a plus.

Nice-to-have skills include: exposure to Talend, Informatica, or SAS; experience migrating pipelines into Ab Initio; PowerBI knowledge; and prior involvement in data governance projects.
