Design Technology Coordinator [AEC Tech Specialist (Architecture, Engineering, and Construction Technology Specialist)]

Position Overview

The Design Technology Coordinator bridges the gap between architecture and technology. With expertise in design software and standards, this role ensures that the firms architectural software ecosystem runs smoothly, consistently, and up to industry standards.

Key Responsibilities :

Software Expertise :

  • Serve as the in-house expert on architectural design software (AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Adobe Suite, Lumion, Enscape, etc.).
  • Troubleshoot advanced software issues and provide guidance to architects/design teams.
  • Keep up with software developments, new tools, and industry trends.
  • Test and evaluate new software including sustainability and energy modelling tools.

Firm Standards Development :

  • Establish and maintain CAD standards:

  • Lineweights (plans, sections, elevations).

  • Hatch patterns for materials (concrete, brickwork, earth, etc.).
  • Standard blocks for annotations, section/elevation markers, tags, and call-outs.

  • Titleblocks (multi-size, editable, with fixed firm logo).

  • Develop firm-wide presentation standards:

  • Indesign and PowerPoint templates with standard layouts.

  • Predefined sheets (title, index, info, image, etc.).

  • Standardized annotations (north arrows, legends, area tables, labels).

  • Maintain and curate a read-only graphic library:

  • CAD blocks (doors, windows, furniture, vehicles, landscaping).

  • Photoshop texture and brush libraries.

Knowledge & Community Engagement :

  • Stay informed about updates from Autodesk and other design tech providers.
  • Attend relevant industry events and conferences.
  • Engage in architectural tech communities to bring innovations to the firm.

Requirements :

  • Professional degree in Architecture/Design with strong technical orientation.
  • 5+ years of experience working with architectural software.
  • Deep knowledge of BIM, CAD standards, and design workflows.
  • Ability to standardize and document firm-wide processes.
  • Passion for architectural technology and innovation.
