  • Role - Microsoft Purview Data Governance Consultant / Sr. Consultant
  • Location: Any EXL location in India (Hybrid-3-4 days a week in office)

Must Haves


• 3+ years of experience developing and deploying solutions with Microsoft Purview or similar data governance platforms


• Deep understanding of data governance principles, such as:

1) Metadata management

2) Data cataloging

3) Lineage tracking

4) Compliance frameworks


• Proficiency in Microsoft Azure: Strong experience with Microsoft Azure services, including:

1) Azure Data Factory

2) Azure Synapse Analyst

3) Azure SQL Database

4) Azure Blob Storage

Key Role and Responsibilities:


• Program Management: Lead the program as a Program Leader using Agile Methodology and provide guidance to the team as an expert on Data Governance, Microsoft Purview and Azure Data Management. Maintain detailed outcomes and tasks for team, reporting to Senior Management and Client Leads, by establishing regular meeting cadences.


• Solution Design & Deployment: Lead the design and deployment of Microsoft Purview solutions for data governance and compliance. Guide Consultants on aligning implementations with business and regulatory requirements.


• Data Integration & Lineage Management: Oversee the integration of Purview with data sources, ensuring smooth lineage and metadata management. Direct Consultants in data integration efforts.


• Compliance & Policy Configuration: Lead the configuration of data classification and sensitivity policies to meet compliance standards. Advise on compliance risks and guide Consultants in policy implementation.


• Collaboration & Governance Best Practices: Work with data teams to define and enforce governance practices. Mentor Consultants in governance strategy execution.


• Service Maintenance & Optimization: Ensure Purview services meet business needs, security, and compliance. Drive improvements and support Consultants with service optimization.


• Data Discovery & Accessibility: Lead data discovery efforts to enhance data quality and security. Oversee strategy execution and guide Consultants in supporting discovery processes.


• Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Monitor and troubleshoot Purview services to ensure optimal performance. Provide guidance to Consultants on troubleshooting issues.


• Documentation & Training: Document best practices and governance workflows. Lead training for users and mentor Consultants in documentation and training efforts

• Problem-Solving & Team Collaboration: Excellent problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to work in cross-functional team environments


• Communication & Documentation Skills: Strong communication skills for collaboration with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.


• Documentation: Ability to document technical workflows, best practices, and governance procedures clearly.

Nice to Have:


• Data Integration & ETL Expertise: Experience with data integration, ETL pipelines, and data modeling to structure and organize enterprise-wide data.


• Security & Compliance Knowledge: Knowledge of security and compliance standards to ensure data governance solutions adhere to industry regulations.
