  • Ensure patient's elimination requirements are met.
  • Evaluate existing drainage systems in place
  • Ensure the risk management, progress monitoring and assessment of baseline data is obtained and documented.
  • Initiate cardiac monitoring, oxygen therapy, non-invasive blood pressure, and oximetry
  • Provide active intervention to maintain oxygen saturations
  • Provide specific monitoring if required and management if a neurological

unstable status is detected.

  • Ensure the intervention to maintain blood glucose levels.
  • Recognize cardiac arrhythmias. Intervene using physician orders, ACLS Algorithm
  • Re-assess patient to identify progress and trends that require intervention or reporting to the physician
  • Administer medicines as per the prescription.
  • Monitor for medicine adverse reaction and report them promptly.
  • Perform blood draw from an arterial and central line. Obtain readings from pulmonary catheter (wedged and non-wedged). Interpret computerized monitor trends as required.
  • Collect lab reports and report accordingly
  • Ensure the management of the intravenous infusion, intravenous site and intravenous medication
  • Ensure that nursing care is provided according to the standards set by AIMS, Kochi.
  • To undertake delegated responsibility for senior staff during short periods of absence.
