API Engineer 27611

We are seeking a skilled and experienced
API Engineer
to join our Engineering team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of RESTful API architecture, HTTP protocols, and API security standards. In this role, you will play a key part in designing, developing, and maintaining scalable and secure APIs while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable RESTful APIs.
  • Ensure high performance, security, and responsiveness of API services.
  • Collaborate with frontend and backend teams for seamless API integration.
  • Manage API concerns including versioning, throttling, rate limiting, and error handling.
  • Implement secure authentication and authorization mechanisms (OAuth2, JWT, API keys).
  • Monitor API health, performance, and troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Document API specifications using Swagger/OpenAPI.
  • Contribute to defining API development standards and best practices.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 6+ years of relevant experience in API development.
  • Strong expertise in RESTful API design and implementation.
  • Proficiency with Java.
  • Mandatory hands-on experience with AWS services.
  • Practical experience with Terraform, Apigee, AWS API Gateway.
  • Solid understanding of API security practices (OAuth2, JWT tokens, API keys).
  • Experience with Kubernetes and Jenkins.
  • Familiarity with caching, rate limiting, logging, and monitoring in API environments.
  • Strong analytical and debugging skills.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools and practices.

Preferred / Nice To Have

  • Experience with Java-based API development is a plus.
