Job Title: ICU Incharge

Department: Intensive Care Unit

Experience Required: 5-8 years (with at least 2-3 years in critical care)

Location: D Y Patil Hospital and Research Centre, Nerul, Navi Mumbai

Job Summary:

Responsible for the overall functioning and smooth operations of the Intensive Care Unit, ensuring high standards of patient care, effective staff management, adherence to protocols, and coordination with multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise daily operations of the ICU including nursing care, infection control, documentation, and resource planning
  • Lead, train & schedule ICU nursing staff; ensure compliance with protocols & shift handovers
  • Monitor critical care patients, coordinate with intensivists/consultants, and ensure timely interventions
  • Maintain crash cart, lifesaving equipment, ventilators, monitors and ensure availability of medicines & supplies
  • Ensure accurate charting, documentation, reports (nurses notes, vitals, intakeoutput, assessment sheets)
  • Implement hospital SOPs, NABH standards and ICU protocols
  • Conduct regular audits, mock drills and continuous quality improvement initiatives
  • Ensure effective communication with patient families, provide updates and counselling
  • Manage admission, transfer & discharge processes of ICU patients
  • Handle emergency situations, triage and maintain readiness for critical events
  • Maintain staff discipline, assess performance, identify training needs and facilitate staff development
  • Prepare duty roster, leaves, training schedules and ensure adequate staffing
  • Report incidents, sentinel events and coordinate with Quality & Medical Administration teams

Qualifications & Skills:

  • GNM/ B.Sc / M.Sc with valid Maharashtra Nursing Cosuncil Certificate
  • Strong clinical knowledge of critical care nursing
  • Leadership & team management capability
  • Excellent decision-making and crisis management skills
  • Familiarity with ICU monitoring equipment (ventilators, defibrillators, infusion pumps etc.)
  • Good communication & interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of infection control and quality standards
