Role of ICU Incharge
The ICU Incharge is responsible for overseeing the intensive care unit's daily operations, ensuring critically ill patients receive the highest level of care. This role includes supervision of nursing staff, coordination with doctors and specialists, maintaining protocols, and ensuring the ICU runs efficiently and safely.
Key Responsibilities
1. Patient Care & Safety
- Ensure critically ill patients receive appropriate, timely, and safe care.
- Monitor patient conditions and coordinate with doctors for urgent interventions.
- Maintain high standards of infection control and hygiene in ICU.
- Oversee implementation of care plans for patients.
2. Staff Management & Supervision
- Supervise and guide ICU nurses and support staff.
- Assign duties, manage rosters, and ensure adequate staffing.
- Provide training, mentoring, and support to junior nurses.
- Evaluate staff performance and ensure adherence to clinical standards.
3. Clinical Coordination
- Collaborate with doctors, surgeons, anesthetists, and other specialists.
- Ensure proper handovers between shifts for continuity of patient care.
- Facilitate multidisciplinary team meetings regarding patient management.
4. Administration & Documentation
- Maintain accurate patient records, reports, and treatment documentation.
- Ensure proper usage and maintenance of ICU equipment.
- Monitor stock of medicines, consumables, and emergency supplies.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies and legal requirements.
5. Quality & Protocol Compliance
- Implement and monitor ICU protocols and standard operating procedures.
- Conduct audits, risk assessments, and safety checks.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives for patient care.
- Report adverse events or critical incidents promptly.
6. Communication & Family Support
- Communicate effectively with patients' families about condition and treatment.
- Provide emotional support and guidance to relatives.
- Ensure transparency and empathy in communication.
Job Type: Full-time
