Position Overview:
The District Academic Coordinator will work closely with the District Project Associate in engaging with the respective officials in District as well as schools as part of the Foundational Literacy and Numeracy initiative in Jharkhand. They will support the District Project Associate in the execution of the Foundational literacy and Numeracy program at field level and coordination with various stakeholders (District, block and Field level government and non-profit partners) to sustain the impact and interventions from the program. The District Academic Coordinator will serve as a technical resource for literacy and Numeracy program at district, Block and field level and support DEO (District Education Officer)/DSE (District Superintendent of Education) /ADPO (Assistant District Project Officer)/BEEO (Block Education Extension Officer)/CRP (Cluster Resource Person) /BRPs (Block Resource Person) and Teachers.
Responsibilities:
On-ground implementation:
- Develop a thorough understanding of Room to Read's program design.
- Interact with key stakeholders (government departments and officials such as DEO/DSE/ADPO, BEEO/BPO and BRP/CRPs etc.) on a day-to-day basis to ensure delivery on program objectives.
- Support and strengthens District Level Review Meetings and ensures that review meetings are getting conducted monthly with district and block level officials.
Participate in Gurugoshti meeting monthly:
- Build rapport with DIET ((District Institute of Education and Training) faculty members and conduct meetings with them on a regular basis.
- Develops a strong relation and coordination with District Commissioner to strengthen a District Level Review forum for FLN (Foundation Literacy and Numeracy) program.
- Work closely with ADPO/BEEO/BPO/BRPs and CRPs to implement literacy and Numeracy program and innovations as part of Project.
- Identify operational bottlenecks and weaknesses, wherever applicable and suggest solutions to District Program Associate.
- Strengthen and capacitate the supportive supervision cadre (BRP/CRP)
- Formulate strategies from district level to ensure proper implementation of community engagement plans.
- Participate actively in events, campaigns, meetings, and trainings through the virtual and offline mode.
Technical Support/Monitoring and Data Collection:
- Assist to PA in planning and delivery of monthly review meetings, including documentation and data provision for the same.
- Play the key role as a resource person with respect to r trainings happening at district and block level.
- Regular co-ordination with stakeholders to provide technical support and also makes school visits (stand-alone and jointly with BRP/CRPs and Block officials) for assessing requirement of technical improvement and technical support to teachers, BRP/CRPs in data collection.
- Ensures regular school visits for classroom observation, Provides feedback and creates reports and share with concerned stakeholders and PA.
- Track and report performance on key indicators on a timely basis as per the M&E framework.
Communication & Documentation:
- Documentation and communication of program achievements/outcomes through reports and notes.
- Preparing and managing documentation related to program implementation e.g., approvals, letters, etc.
- Support to preparing regular (monthly, quarterly and yearly basis, including program data) qualitative reports and documenting case studies and best practices.
- Documentation of on-ground learnings and knowledge received from the ground to support coalition partners internal capacity / knowledge building.
- Ensures spread of state's communication to the last mile stakeholders intended, through district/block/cluster level network in the system.
- Participates in monthly Internal review meetings conducted in SPMU offline and online with district's insights.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in education or equivalent is required.
- Work experience of minimum 1-3 years in development sector.
- Experience with on-ground program implementation mandatory.
- Knowledge of Foundational Literacy concepts.
- Experiences working with government in education sector and teachers training is required.
- Fluency in Hindi (spoken, written, and reading) is required and basic communication in English is preferred.
- Desired skills include written and oral communication skills, ability to adapt to emerging situations, interpersonal skills and networking skills, ability to work on tight deadlines.
