Roles & responsibilities
The Assistant Manager – BOI Finance and Accounting Team is integral to applying analytical skills to drive financial strategy, enhance decision-making processes, and optimize operations. This role involves interpreting complex financial data to provide actionable insights and recommendations, ensuring alignment with the organization's strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Understanding the Business:
Product and Market Insight: Proactively learn about supported business products and markets
Data and Analysis:
Reporting: Produce management information (MI) and reports for leadership teams.
Analytical Skills: Understand origination, pipeline, backlog, budget gap analysis, win rates, and project abandonments.
Financial Insights:
Commentary Preparation: Draft insightful commentaries to support FBP deliverables.
KPI Tracking: Monitor and report performance KPIs, focusing on impacts to client accounts and markets.
Project Leadership and Strategic Support:
Market and Pricing Analysis: Perform in-depth analyses of market trends and pricing to develop strategies enhancing competitiveness and profitability.
Investment Evaluation: Analyse open accounts receivable, bad debts, and cash flow metrics to provide leadership with insights that support the firm's liquidity.
Operational Responsibilities:
IT and Expense Management: Serve as the main contact for IT, expenses, and invoice approvals.
Invoice Verification: Review supplier invoices for accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
Ad Hoc Support:
Project Assistance: Address ad hoc finance project requests as needed.
Process Improvement:
Automation and Efficiency: Lead efforts to automate reporting processes and incorporate generative AI tools to enhance efficiency, standardisation, and innovation in financial analysis.
Skill Development in Analytics Platforms: Enhance proficiency in emerging data analytics platforms, adapting reports to improve efficiency and insight generation.
Team and Stakeholder Engagement:
Stakeholder Management: Engage effectively with stakeholders, delivering analytical insights that align financial objectives with business strategies, including real-time support to stakeholders starting at 2 PM IST.
Team Leadership: Manage the finance team by setting clear goals, conducting performance appraisals, and fostering a culture focused on continuous learning and analytical excellence.
Training and Best Practices: Lead training sessions to develop analytical skills within the team, sharing best practices, including the use of generative AI, to enhance overall capabilities.
Investment Evaluation: Analyze open accounts receivable, bad debts, and cash flow metrics to provide leadership with insights that support the firm's liquidity.
This role is for you if you have the below
Hold an ACCA, CA, CIMA, CMA, MBA Finance qualification and can demonstrate effective knowledge with recent practical work experience to be able to carry out the Finance duties effectively.
Over 8 years relevant experience of accounting in an operational or professional services environment
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
An ability to work at both a strategic and a granular level – choosing when each is appropriate.
Excellent IT skills with advanced level in Microsoft Excel.
Ability to take the initiative in identifying problems and suggesting and implementing solutions such as improvements in finance templates.
Good attention to detail and accuracy, together with the ability to work to tight deadlines but always keep sight of the broader picture.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate and influence with confidence and clarity to all levels.
Positive and proactive attitude, with the ability to work independently as well as being a team player.
Strong people skills with the ability to develop and maintain good working relationships both internally and externally.
