Safety Manager

Purpose : To support the implementation of comprehensive safety protocols and practices within the assigned region for the project, contributing to the establishment safety culture.
Principal Accountabilities
Planning & Budgeting - Provide insights and inputs for formulating budgets with respect to projects assigned in the region. Monitor budget consumption for the project assigned and submit reports on the same. Contribute valuable inputs for crafting the annual safety program for the project.
Safety Management - Provide valuable inputs for developing safety processes. Prepare monthly safety activity planner based on on-site activities and ensure all activities are conducted accordingly. Obtain approval from structural consultants for all temporary structures, drawings, scaffolds, and formwork systems, considering safety and health risks to personnel. Organize National Safety Day, Road Safety Week, and World Environmental Day projects. Maintain and monitor safety systems, including biannual environmental tests, electrical safety, fall protection, and firefighting facilities, ensuring adherence to standards and conducting regular mock drills. Coordinate and schedule monthly review meetings with contractors/PMC teams, documenting actionable points and tracking their closure regularly. Organize subcommittee meetings as per schedule, actively participate, and maintain records of discussed action plans, ensuring progress tracking. Conduct site-specific training needs analysis by liaising with project teams and submit to the Regional Safety Manager for approval. Coordinate and arrange for training as per the training calendar. Conduct the assigned training for the project. Monitor to check if safety inductions are conducted as per plan and standards. Assist in incident investigations by gathering and collating relevant data from site teams. Submit material requests to the regional safety lead and follow up for timely delivery with respect to safety requirements. Review and monitor the EHS plan, emergency response plan and waste management plan prepared by contractors and drive implementation of the same. Prepare safety-related MIS for assigned projects.
Risk Management & Compliance - Support audit requirements by providing all necessary documentation and data in case of external audits. Track closure of corrective action for all sites in coordination with the projects team. Ensure compliance with the EHS, BOCW, and all other required regulations. Update the compliance portal with all necessary data as per defined timelines. Review the HIRA compliances and ensure effective implementation of the same.
Agency/ Vendor/ Contractor Management - Participate in pre-bid meetings and orient contractors (related to finishing work) on project requirements for assigned projects, emphasizing safety guidelines and expectations. Conduct pre-qualification assessments for contractors, supplying evaluation data to the contracts team to aid vendor selection. Participate in project kick-off meetings and inform contractors on safety regulations to be followed. Assist in gathering site-specific observations on contractor performance and contribute to recommendations for improvement.
Continuous Improvements - Assist the regional safety manager in gathering data for root cause analysis and recommending corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) for the projects assigned. Implement the signed-off CAPA. Provide inputs for automation initiatives for safety processes. Implement the finalized automation interventions as per the defined timelines and report progress.
