Job Title: Electrical Manager – Strip Mill & Steckel Mill

Department: Electrical E&I

Reports To: Section In charge

Location: Hisar

Job Summary:

The Electrical Manager for the Steckel & Strip Mill is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, troubleshooting, and performance of all electrical systems and equipment related to the finishing section of the plant. This includes managing PLCs, motors, AC/DC drives, transformers, VCBs, ACBs, cranes, and other plant machinery. The role involves effective team leadership, preventive maintenance planning, spare parts management, and ensuring compliance with safety and audit standards.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Electrical Maintenance & Troubleshooting

2. Lead maintenance and troubleshooting of electrical equipment such as:

o PLCs (ABB, Siemens, Allen-Bradley, SMS X-pact controller, 800 PEC etc.)

o AC/DC motors and drives

o Transformers

o VCBs (Vacuum Circuit Breakers) and ACBs (Air Circuit Breakers)

o EOT Cranes and auxiliary machinery

• Ensure minimum downtime and smooth operations of Mill.

• Preventive & Predictive Maintenance

• Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules.

• Conduct condition monitoring of critical equipment.

• Maintain documentation and maintenance records as per ISO/industry standards.

• Manpower Handling

• Supervise and lead a team of technicians and electricians.

• Allocate daily tasks, manage shifts, and ensure optimum utilization of manpower.

• Provide training and development for team members.

• Spare Parts & Inventory Management

• Monitor and control inventory of electrical spare parts.

• Coordinate with the purchase department for timely procurement of critical spares.

• Maintain proper records of inventory usage and stock levels.

• Energy Efficiency & Safety

• Promote energy-saving practices and ensure optimal power usage.

• Ensure strict adherence to electrical safety protocols and statutory compliance.

• Conduct safety audits and implement corrective actions.

• Audit & Compliance

• Prepare for internal and external audits (safety, ISO, energy, etc.).

• Maintain documentation required for compliance and statutory inspections.
• Coordinate with auditors and implement recommended improvements.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor's Degree/Diploma in Electrical Engineering
• 10–15 years of experience in heavy industry or manufacturing (preferably steel, textile, or automotive), with at least –5 years in a managerial role
• Hands-on experience with PLC programming, drive tuning, motor control systems, and power distribution

• Strong knowledge of industrial automation and control systems
• Expertise in AC/DC drives (ABB, Siemens, etc.)
• Expertise in PLC (ABB, Siemens, Allen-Bradley), SMS X-pact controller, 800 PEC system
• Sound understanding of electrical safety standards and codes
• Proficient in reading electrical drawings and troubleshooting
• Leadership and team management abilities
• Excellent communication and coordination skills
