Job Title: Senior Python Backend Engineer (AI/LLM Focus)

Location: Remote

Position: Full-time / Contract

Timing: 6:30pm-2:30am

About the Role

We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Senior Python Backend Engineer to build the

core infrastructure of our AI Focus Group Platform. You will be the primary architect and builder

of the entire backend, responsible for everything from API design to integrating with

cutting-edge Large Language Models (LLMs).

You will work in close collaboration with our frontend engineers and the founding team to bring

our MVP to life. This is not just a coding role; you will be a strategic partner, making key

technical decisions that will shape our product for years to come. If you are passionate about

Key Responsibilities

● Architect and Build the Core API: Design, develop, and deploy a secure, scalable, and

well-documented RESTful API using Python (Fast API/Django). This API will serve as the

backbone for our web application.

● Integrate with Large Language Models (LLMs): Be the expert on integrating with

third-party LLM APIs (e.g., Google Gemini, OpenAI GPT series). You will manage API

keys, handle requests, and process responses efficiently.

● Develop Advanced Prompt Engineering Logic: Implement the server-side logic to

dynamically construct complex, context-aware prompts based on persona data and

conversation history to ensure high-quality, in-character AI responses.

● Database Design and Management: Architect a clean and efficient database schema

in PostgreSQL to store user data, personas, focus group sessions, and conversation transcripts. You will handle data modeling challenges like denormalization for historical

accuracy.

● Implement Security and Authentication: Build a secure user authentication system

and enforce a strict data tenancy model to ensure user data is completely isolated and

protected.

● Manage Deployment and Infrastructure: Own the deployment process for the backend

services. You will be responsible for containerizing the application (Docker) and

deploying it to a cloud platform (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, Heroku).

● Collaborate and Define API Contracts: Work closely with our frontend engineers to

define clear and consistent API contracts, ensuring a smooth and efficient development

process.

Candidate Requirements

Must-Have Qualifications:

● 5+ years of professional experience in backend software development.

● Expert proficiency in Python and experience with modern Python web frameworks like

FastAPI (preferred) or Django.

● Proven experience designing, building, and maintaining RESTful APIs. You should have

a strong understanding of API design principles, including authentication, versioning,

and error handling.

● Strong proficiency with relational databases, specifically PostgreSQL. This includes data

modeling, writing efficient queries, and understanding performance trade-offs.

● Experience integrating with third-party APIs. You are comfortable reading external API

documentation, handling authentication, and implementing resilient error handling.

● Proficiency with Git and modern collaborative development workflows (e.g., GitHub

Flow).

● Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced,

startup environment. You are a self-starter who can take ownership of a project from

conception to completion.

Preferred (Nice-to-Have) Qualifications:

● Direct, hands-on experience integrating with LLM APIs from providers like Google

(Gemini), OpenAI, or Anthropic is a massive plus and will set you apart.

● Familiarity with prompt engineering techniques and an intuitive understanding of how to

guide and constrain the output of generative AI models.

● Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and deploying applications.

● Hands-on experience with Docker for containerizing applications.

● Experience setting up basic CI/CD pipelines (e.g., using GitHub Actions).

● Previous experience working in an early-stage startup environment and building a

product from scratch.
