Kidney Transplant Coordinator

Role & responsibilities

• Patient/Donor Education:Educate potential recipients and their families about the kidney transplant process, treatment options, and pre- and post-transplant care.
• Evaluation & Assessment:Coordinate the medical evaluation of potential recipients and living donors by gathering medical history, facilitating diagnostic tests, and working with the medical team to determine suitability for transplant.
• Process Management:Manage the entire transplant process, from initial referral to surgery and follow-up.
• Record Keeping:Maintain accurate and complete medical records for both recipients and donors, including investigation reports and consent forms.
• Coordination:Serve as a central point of communication between patients, families, the transplant team (surgeons, doctors, nurses), and other healthcare providers.
• Support for Donor Families:Approach and counsel donor families, providing emotional support and facilitating the organ donation consent process.
