About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Quality Engineer who can lead and optimize our QA processes for a fast-moving SaaS product. This role requires strong technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and proven experience in establishing QA best practices, designing test strategies, and mentoring teams. You will work closely with both clients and internal stakeholders, ensuring product quality through robust QA frameworks and automation practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Audit and critically analyze the current QA setup (unit, API, integration, and end-to-end tests).
  • Design, document, and implement a comprehensive QA strategy (short, medium, and long-term).
  • Define and propose a suitable test architecture (test pyramid, shift-left testing, smoke tests, automation frameworks, etc.).
  • Collaborate with developers to improve testability, maintain test hygiene, and define QA responsibilities across roles.
  • Extend and enhance automated testing infrastructure for continuous improvement.
  • Lead manual and exploratory testing during the setup phase.
  • Support recruitment and onboarding of QA engineers.
  • Partner with the team in agile sprint processes, including QA reviews and quality gates.

What We're Looking For

Management & Leadership:

  • 10+ years of experience in QA, with 5+ years in B2B SaaS or web-based products.
  • Strong background in designing QA processes and test strategies for agile teams.
  • Proven ability to build and implement a test pyramid architecture (unit, integration, E2E, manual balance).
  • Skilled in mentoring developers and QA engineers on best practices.
  • Strong communication skills to engage with both clients and internal teams.

Technical Expertise:

  • In-depth understanding of test types (API, performance, security, load, regression, etc.).
  • Hands-on experience with Cypress, RESTassured, JMeter (or similar tools).
  • Strong background in automation frameworks and integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Familiarity with Java-based backends and REST API testing.
  • Proven ability to maintain or build automated test suites with 1000+ tests.
  • Experience implementing QA frameworks/pipelines in at least 2 prior projects/startups.

Success in This Role Looks Like:

  • Within the first 2–4 weeks, you have assessed the QA setup and proposed a QA roadmap (with migration plan if needed).
  • Within 2 months, automated test coverage is increased by at least 20%.
  • Successfully onboarded or supported the hiring of a QA engineer to implement the roadmap.
  • Established a QA strategy that reduces manual workload while enhancing product quality.
