Job Purpose

To oversee and manage the overall functioning of the plant stores, ensuring efficient inventory control, timely material availability, adherence to SOPs, compliance with statutory requirements, and optimization of storage space and costs.

Key Responsibilities

1. Inventory & Stores Management

• Plan, control, and monitor inventory levels to maintain optimal stock while avoiding excess or shortages.
• Implement and monitor FIFO/FEFO principles for raw materials, spares, and consumables.
• Ensure timely GRN (Goods Receipt Note) preparation and accurate posting in ERP/SAP systems.
• Conduct periodic stock audits and reconcile discrepancies.

2. Material Handling & Storage

• Oversee receipt, storage, and issuance of materials as per SOPs.
• Ensure safe storage conditions for chemicals, raw materials, spares, and finished goods.
• Optimize warehouse layout and ensure proper labeling and binning.

3. Coordination & Communication

• Liaise with procurement, production, quality, and finance departments for smooth material flow.
• Coordinate with vendors for timely delivery and resolve material discrepancies.
• Prepare MIS reports on stock status, slow/non-moving items, and consumption patterns.

4. Compliance & Safety

• Ensure compliance with company policies, ISO, and statutory requirements related to storage and inventory.
• Enforce safety protocols for handling hazardous materials.
• Maintain proper documentation for internal and external audits.

5. Team Management

• Supervise store staff, allocate tasks, and monitor performance.
• Provide training on ERP/SAP usage, inventory practices, and safety norms.
• Promote a culture of accountability, discipline, and continuous improvement.
