Senior Rail Designer

Purpose

Opportunity for a Senior Designer to join the Global Rail Infrastructure Team as part of the growth of the rail team.

This is a full-time role and is ideally suited for an experienced 12D designer with a knowledge of international rail standards who is keen to work on greenfield rail developments, brownfields upgrades and track rehabilitation works in the Pilbara, Western Australia.

The nature of the business will require the designer to undertake designs at different levels of complexity from High level Concept designs for Order of Magnitude Studies to detail design suitable to be issued for construction.

Location

Based in India and working as part of the Global Rail Infrastructure Team. The Candidate will be managed and report to the Principal Rail Designer in Perth, Western Australia.

Key Accountabilities

  • Reporting to the Principal Rail Designer, you will be part of a team 12d designers, drafters and engineers to deliver of a range of projects to applicable statutory and regulatory specifications, on time and within budget.
  • Lead the production of 2D drawings using MicroStation from 12D models or similar.
  • Assist in the coordination of workshare between various Worley offices.
  • Support the Principal Rail designer in tasks such as:
  • Participate in relevant meetings and follow required checking procedures.
  • clarification of project scope and identify changes to the lead designer.
  • Gathers data from multiple sources and prepares design packages to the required engineering standards
  • Support technical development of solutions, recommendations and helps in the development of creates final documentation for project deliverables.
  • Assist in proactively resolve any discrepancies between Worley and its Customer's requirements.
  • Keep up to date with the latest developments and technical innovations in Rail design.
  • Support effective communication with the engineering team and project stakeholders, including the customer.
  • Identify issues and problems, develop appropriate solutions, and ask for assistance when required.
  • Identification of additional resources to provide design and drafting capability as required to meet project demand

Required Skills and Competencies Required

  • Excellent knowledge of the 12D civil design package
  • Prior experience in track design or large earthworks projects is essential
  • Knowledge of Australian Heavy Haul Rail standards
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Be highly driven with a focus on delivery and service
  • Prior experience in
  • Surface Drainage Upgrades
  • Level Crossing upgrades and roads extending from rail crossing
  • Rail Access Roads
  • Mainline and yards rail alignments, track and formation design

Desired Skills and Competencies

  • Sound knowledge of Bentley Rail
  • Experience in Resource Sector or linear infrastructure
  • Extensive years of experience in civil design in the mining, energy and/or infrastructure sector.
  • Knowledge of and other international rail standards, particularly those in Africa and Middle East
  • Prior experience of leading a civil design team.
  • Delivered medium to large projects within multidiscipline environment.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Awarded a 2- or 3-year technical diploma with discipline specific training or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
