Description :

The Network, Server & Storage Survey Consultant will be responsible for conducting detailed assessments and documentation of IT infrastructure components, including network equipment, servers, storage systems, and cabling.

The role requires a strong understanding of enterprise IT environments, network topologies, hardware configurations, and data center layouts.

The consultant will perform on-site surveys, capture physical and logical infrastructure details, assess performance and capacity parameters, and provide recommendations for optimization, consolidation, or modernization.

This position involves close collaboration with IT, infrastructure, and security teams to ensure the accuracy and completeness of all survey deliverables.

Key Responsibilities :

- Plan and conduct comprehensive surveys of network, server, and storage infrastructure across data centers and enterprise facilities.

- Identify, document, and analyze routers, switches, firewalls, servers, and storage devices, including configuration and firmware details.

- Perform structured cabling assessments, including verification of layouts, labeling, rack organization, and patch panel connections.

- Create detailed inventory reports, network diagrams, and infrastructure documentation aligned with industry standards.

- Evaluate current network performance, bandwidth utilization, and device health to identify potential bottlenecks or failure points.

- Collaborate with IT and infrastructure teams to validate survey findings and ensure data accuracy.

- Assess power, cooling, and space utilization in server rooms and data centers to support optimization planning.

- Assist in developing migration or upgrade plans for legacy systems, equipment refresh, or technology consolidation.

- Ensure all survey activities comply with client protocols, data security policies, and documentation standards.

- Support senior consultants and architects in designing future-state network and infrastructure blueprints.

Requirements :

to 10 years of experience in IT infrastructure assessment, network management, or data center operations.

- Strong knowledge of enterprise networking equipment including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.

- Experience with structured cabling systems, network rack layouts, and fiber/copper termination practices.

- Proficiency in server and storage technologies, including virtualization, SAN/NAS, and backup systems.

- Familiarity with network topology mapping tools and documentation standards such as Visio or NetBox.

- Understanding of IP addressing, VLANs, routing protocols, and security segmentation.

- Exposure to IT infrastructure monitoring, capacity planning, and performance optimization.

- Ability to interpret schematics, data center layouts, and physical cabling diagrams.

- Strong analytical and technical reporting skills with attention to detail
