Job Summary:
The Drafter, also known as a drafting technician, is a professional who specializes in creating detailed technical drawings and plans used in construction and manufacturing. They translate the ideas of engineers and architects into precise visual representations, often using computer-aided design (CAD) software. Drafters must have a keen eye for detail, strong spatial understanding, and familiarity with design standards and building codes to produce accurate and functional designs.

Responsibilities:

Drafting and Design

• Creating accurate technical drawings using computer-aided design (CAD) software

• Ensuring compliance with industry standards and project specifications

• Collaborating with engineers and architects to develop detailed designs

Document Management

• Organizing and maintaining project documents, including drawings, calculations, and specifications

• Updating and revising drawings as needed

• Ensuring proper version control and document tracking

Quality Control

• Conducting thorough reviews of drawings for accuracy and completeness

• Identifying and resolving any discrepancies or errors

• Following company and industry standards for quality assurance

Communication

• Communicating effectively with team members, clients, and stakeholders

• Attending meetings and providing updates on project progress

• Responding to requests for information and making revisions based on feedback

Project Coordination

• Coordinating with other drafters, designers, and engineers to ensure consistency and accuracy in project drawings

Qualifications:

• A bachelor's degree in degree in Architecture, Engineering, or a specialized area, such as drafting or Engineering Technology or a related field with at least 2 years experience or equivalent work experience that provides exposure to fundamental theories, principles, and concepts.

• Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software, such as AutoCAD.

• Ability to produce precise and accurate drawings.

• Strong understanding of geometry and algebra to calculate dimensions and allowances.

• Good communication abilities to understand and follow instructions from architects and engineers.

• The capacity to convert ideas into technical drawings.
