Job Role: Senior Accountant

A senior accountant at Rooman would be a key player in ensuring financial integrity and strategic financial management within a dynamic, fast-growing technology environment.

Salary Range: 6 Lakh -12 Lakh Based on Experience

Job summary:

The Senior Accountant will be responsible for overseeing the company's financial records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with Indian Accounting Standards and tax regulations. The ideal candidate has experience working in a technology or ed-tech company and possesses a combination of strong technical accounting knowledge and effective leadership abilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Financial reporting:
    Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • General ledger management:
    Oversee daily accounting operations, manage the general ledger, and ensure all financial transactions are accurately recorded.
  • Compliance and audits:
    Ensure timely and accurate filing of all statutory returns, including GST and TDS. Serve as the primary contact for internal and external audits.
  • Reconciliations:
    Perform complex account reconciliations, including bank statements, accounts payable, and accounts receivable, to ensure data integrity.
  • Budgeting and forecasting:
    Support the finance team in developing and managing budgets, forecasts, and financial analysis to inform strategic business decisions.
  • Process improvement:
    Develop, document, and improve accounting processes and internal controls to increase efficiency and accuracy within the finance department.
  • Leadership and mentorship:
    Guide and mentor junior accounting staff, reviewing their work and fostering a high-performance team environment.
  • Interdepartmental collaboration:
    Work with other departments, such as product development and IT services, to ensure accurate financial reporting and to provide financial guidance.

Qualifications and skillsEssential:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; a Master's degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of 4–6 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in the Technology or Education industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of Indian GAAP and accounting principles.
  • Demonstrated expertise in tax filings, including GST and TDS.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel (including pivot tables and advanced functions) and experience with a major accounting software like Tally ERP or Zoho Books.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills, with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
