Senior Systems Engineer, Workday Financials

The opportunity
Join Unity as a Senior Systems Engineer, Workday Financials in Bengaluru to play a critical role in optimization and evolving our Workday Financials ecosystem. In this role, you will ensure the platform effectively supports business objectives by translating requirements into scalable, efficient Workday solutions. You'll lead hands-on development, deployment, and ongoing operational support across Workday Financials, including data integrations where needed. As the local subject matter expert, you will collaborate closely with the broader Workday team and the Finance organization to design, build, and continually enhance Workday Financials.

What You'll Be Doing

• Be a key technical hands-on and functional leader for Workday Financials initiatives, owning strategic configuration and design decisions within the Workday Financials ecosystem to build scalable, high-quality solutions for complex business needs.
• Own end-to-end project delivery—from scoping and requirements through build, testing, go-live, and post-deployment support—partnering closely with Finance and cross-functional stakeholders to align plans, communicate progress, and deliver projects on time.
• Apply advanced Workday reporting expertise to automate processes, enhance data visibility, and streamline operations. Automate accounting processes using Prism and Accounting Center.
• Maintain strong governance and documentation standards, ensuring clear data lineage, audit-ready records, and structured configuration tracking while contributing to the Workday configuration library and internal best practices.
• Stay ahead of the Workday product roadmap by monitoring biannual releases, assessing new functionality, and recommending improvements. Lead testing and deployment of enhancements to maximize business value and process optimization.
• Act as the onsite subject matter expert for Finance and business teams, troubleshooting functional and technical issues, resolving critical production incidents with urgency, and ensuring system stability while promoting Workday best practices.

What We're Looking For

• Strong hands-on expertise in Workday Financials, including configuration, functional design, and end-to-end solution delivery, with a strong analytical and problem-solving mindset.
• Advanced Workday reporting skills (Advanced, Matrix, Composite, Calculated Fields) along with experience using Prism Analytics and Accounting Center to streamline accounting processes.
• Strong proficiency of Workday Security, User/Role management, Business Processes, EIBs, and Workday Studio integrations.
• Demonstrated track record of driving process improvements and optimizing system functionality for Finance operations.
• Deep understanding of core finance processes such as Invoicing, Billing, Collections, Procurement, Quote-to-Cash, Customers/Supplier Management, Expense Management, GL Accounting, Consolidations, as well as foundational accounting principles, and master data structures.
• Familiarity with Workday release cycles, change control processes, and evaluating new platform features for implementation.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across Finance, Technical and cross-functional teams. Self-motivated and proactive with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple initiatives in a fast-paced environment.

• Knowledge of LLM and proven experience with implementation of AI features in finance systems/processes
