We are seeking a
freelance SCM/Changeman Engineer
(minimum 3+ years of relevant experience) to support our mainframe development and deployment processes. The role focuses on
managing source code, ensuring smooth change management, and handling release cycles
with strong emphasis on
debugging and reliability
.

Responsibilities

Source Code Management:

  • Manage and maintain source code repositories using SCM tools (Changeman, Endevor, Git).
  • Perform branching, merging, and version control activities.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve SCM-related issues.

Change Management:

  • Utilize Changeman to handle the complete software change lifecycle.
  • Create, track, and prioritize change requests.
  • Automate workflows and enforce development standards.
  • Perform impact analysis for changes.

Release Management:

  • Plan and execute releases, coordinating with development, QA, and operations teams.
  • Create and maintain release documentation.
  • Deploy releases to production environments.

Problem Solving & Collaboration:

  • Diagnose and resolve SCM/Changeman issues.
  • Implement efficiency and reliability improvements.
  • Provide support and guidance to development/test/ops teams.

Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of mainframe technologies:
    z/OS, JCL, COBOL, DB2
    .
  • Proven experience with SCM tools:
    Changeman, Endevor, Git
    .
  • Familiarity with
    Agile/Waterfall
    methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Preferred

  • Experience with
    automation tools (JCL, REXX)
    .
  • Knowledge of
    DevOps practices
    .
  • Certifications in
    mainframe technologies or SCM/Changeman
    .
