  • Assign accurate ICD-10-CM and CPT codes to physician services and procedures
  • Review medical records to ensure documentation supports the codes assigned
  • Adhere to coding and compliance guidelines, including HIPAA regulations
  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to clarify documentation
  • Abstract clinical data for medical research and statistical reports
  • Resolve coding-related denials and rejections through appeals and communication with payers
  • Stay updated with changes in coding regulations and healthcare laws
  • Provide coding education and support to physicians, clinicians, and administrative staff
  • Participate in coding audits and quality improvement initiatives
  • Conduct coding reviews to identify potential areas for improvement
  • Assist in the implementation and optimization of electronic health record systems
  • Ensure confidentiality and security of patient information
  • Collaborate with billing and compliance teams to support revenue cycle management
  • Handle coding-related inquiries and provide accurate and timely responses

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field
  • Active Certified Coding Specialist-Physician (CCS-P) certification
  • Thorough understanding of ICD-10-CM and CPT coding guidelines
  • Proficiency in medical terminology and anatomy
  • Knowledge of healthcare laws, regulations, and compliance requirements
  • Experience in physician-based coding in a healthcare setting
