Job Summary
We are looking for a Radiology Typist (Rad-Typist) to accurately type and manage radiology reports (X-Ray, CT, MRI, Ultrasound, etc.) based on radiologists' notes or dictations. The ideal candidate must have strong medical terminology knowledge, excellent typing speed, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain patient confidentiality.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
1. Report Typing and Documentation
- Accurately type radiology reports (X-Ray, CT, MRI, Ultrasound, etc.) from handwritten or dictated notes.
- Ensure correct usage of medical terminology, spelling, and report format as per standard templates.
- Proofread reports and ensure zero errors before submission or printing.
- Maintain confidentiality of all patient reports and data.
2. Coordination with Radiologists and Technicians
- Coordinate with radiologists for clarifications, corrections, or approvals.
- Communicate with scan technicians to verify patient and study details.
- Ensure timely completion and submission of reports.
3. Patient and Front Desk Support
- Assist the front desk in locating or dispatching patient reports.
- Handle patient queries about report timelines politely and efficiently.
- Update report status in the system accurately.
4. Data Entry and Record Maintenance
- Enter and update patient details in the LIS (Laboratory Information System).
- Maintain both digital and physical records of reports.
- Archive completed reports for easy retrieval during audits.
5. Quality and Accuracy Control
- Double-check patient details and scan data for accuracy.
- Maintain high typing accuracy and meet turnaround time (TAT) standards.
- Cross-verify images and notes to prevent mismatched information.
6. Equipment and Software Handling
- Operate reporting software, printers, and systems efficiently.
- Report any IT/system issues promptly.
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation.
7. Professionalism and Continuous Learning
- Uphold data confidentiality and patient privacy.
- Communicate courteously with doctors, staff, and patients.
- Stay updated on radiology terminology, software updates, and typing techniques.
Required Skills
- Excellent typing speed and accuracy.
- Knowledge of medical/radiology terminology.
- Familiarity with reporting software (LIS, PACS).
- Strong communication and coordination skills.
- High attention to detail and confidentiality.
