Job Summary:

The Radiology Typist is responsible for accurately typing and formatting radiology and diagnostic reports from dictated material provided by radiologists and physicians. The role ensures timely and error-free documentation to support smooth workflow and efficient reporting within the diagnostic and laboratory center.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Transcribe radiology reports (X-ray, CT, MRI, Ultrasound, Mammography, etc.) from dictations or handwritten notes.
  • Ensure all medical terminology, patient details, and report formats adhere to departmental standards.
  • Proofread and edit drafts to ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information in compliance with hospital and data protection policies.
  • Coordinate with radiologists, technicians, and administrative staff for report verification and timely delivery.
  • Manage digital report files, ensuring proper storage and retrieval.
  • Handle printing, signing, and dispatching of finalized reports as required.
  • Assist in maintaining daily typing logs and report turnaround times.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Minimum education: High school diploma or equivalent; certification in medical transcription or related field preferred.
  • Experience: 1–3 years of experience as a medical or radiology typist in a diagnostic/lab setting.
  • Excellent knowledge of medical and radiological terminology.
  • Strong typing speed (minimum 60 wpm) with high accuracy.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and hospital information systems (HIS/RIS/PACS).
  • Excellent communication and time management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
