YOUR IMPACT:

The ESM R team is seeking an Engineering manager, to join our Global R team to deliver innovative enterprise software solutions by working in a fast paced challenging and enriching environment. This is a high-growth business, and our solutions are used by enterprise class highly demanding customers across the globe. We are using a Microservices based architecture composed of multiple services running on Kubernetes using Docker Containers.

The Engineering Manager, within Software Engineering R is responsible for setting direction and leadership to development teams, working on medium to large scale global projects. She/he will be responsible for Technical Direction to the teams, Project Management and People Management for driving the R functions.

This position requires strong technical and people leadership, excellent communication, and "hands-on" product development skills. The candidate must have strong technical background, and proficient in motivating and leading the team, through vision, strategic positioning, and leadership characteristics. The candidate is expected to have worked closely with the Product and Program management teams in defining product roadmaps. Working exposure to diverse cross geo teams is important. The candidate must be highly energetic and passionate about delivery; define goals, objectives and measurements for the teams, track performance and show continuous improvement. The candidate will provide mentoring and coaching for the team to develop an iterative, continuous approach to feature delivery.

WHAT THE ROLE OFFERS:

• Guiding the team on technical and functional aspects of the project, being a technical hands-on Manager.
• Helps team achieve sprint/release goals while partnering with the Product Manager on overall business goals.
• Work with cross-functional teams to ensure plans& resources are coordinated, and project deliverables are well defined, scoped and achieved.
• Deliver assigned projects on time, budget and agreed quality standards.
• Drive the planning, daily stand-ups and result oriented retrospectives.
• Provide guidance, technical feedback and ensure release goal is achieved.
• Provide visibility to team impediments/risks and help eliminate them.
• Provide resource forecasting and optimize usage of resources.
• Ensure appropriate and timely reporting.
• Manage communication cross-functionally and escalate promptly when issues arise.
• Ensure Team development and career progression.
• Align with internal development process and improve the in-house methodology and delivery processes.
• Provide guidance, technical feedback and ensure project delivery success.
• Help the team to be innovative and improve things
• Be part of organization-wide initiatives and drive the changes.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:

• BE CS or equivalent experience, 12+ years of industry engineering experience, with at least 4 years in a management or project management position.
• Must have hands-on full stack development experience in systems level engineering with emphasis on application and communications architectures, data management, and low-level application infrastructure.
• Must have experience in development of Enterprise scale, mission-critical, highly available, systems-level applications using J2EE, React, Angular, AngularJS, Kubernetes/containers, PostgreSQL
• Exposure and knowledge to building Microservices based applications, hands-on in Cloud Native architecture, Kubernetes, AWS, Azure, GCP Cloud Environments, building RESTful Web Services will be an advantage.
• Proven track record of successful project/program management of mid to large size projects/products.
• Prior working experience in product development companies, working on large Enterprise Scale applications would be essential.
• Agile project management experience is a must. Experience with SAFe is an advantage.
• Excellent communication and people leadership is mandatory.
• Ability to organize, plan and create a team environment where everyone in the team can perform at their best.
• Ability to serve as a technical leader and mentor at an architectural and coding level to the team.
• Should have good understanding and hands-on with tools related to CI-CD/DevOps.
