This is a
hybrid role
– combining
project leadership
and
data science expertise
– where you'll manage a top-performing offshore team in Chennai and collaborate closely with on-site teams and stakeholders in the U.S.


What You'll Do

Data Science & Technical Leadership

  • Guide development of scalable AI/ML models (time series, regression, optimization, deep learning, etc.)
  • Mentor junior data scientists and analysts; provide hands-on guidance on model design, statistical methods, and algorithm development
  • Promote best practices in MLOps, data science lifecycle, and model QA


Client & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Serve as a key liaison between the client, on-site project manager, and offshore team
  • Understand business goals and translate them into actionable data science plans
  • Set and manage expectations, gather feedback, and drive stakeholder satisfaction


Project & Team Management

  • Lead the offshore AI/ML team in Chennai – ensure timely, high-quality delivery
  • Align team efforts with project milestones and business objectives
  • Identify and resolve blockers, while fostering team collaboration and performance


Quality & Risk Management

  • Implement quality assurance practices to ensure accuracy, reliability, and scalability of all deliverables
  • Proactively identify risks and drive mitigation strategies


Who You Are

You are a results-oriented project manager with a deep appreciation for data science. You've led AI/ML teams, understand the nuances of working in offshore/onsite models, and have successfully delivered solutions in
data-rich domains
like
energy
,
utilities
, or
financial trading
.


Requirements

  • 8+ years
    of experience applying data science to business problems
  • 3+ years
    leading data science or ML teams in delivering AI/ML products
  • Proven expertise in:
  • Time series forecasting, regression, statistical modeling
  • ML algorithms (deep learning, NLP, neural networks, etc.)
  • Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch) and MLOps tools (e.g., MLflow)
  • Understanding of data engineering, architectures, and pipelines
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous, and collaborative environments
  • Experience in
    Energy & Utilities

    Commodities Trading
    domains is a strong plus
