Role & Responsibilities

  • Operate and set up Vertical Machining Centre (VMC) machines as per production requirements.
  • Interpret and work from engineering drawings, ensuring proper understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
  • Select and install appropriate tooling such as drills, HSS tools, carbide tools, end mills, boring bars, face mill cutters, and indexing cutters.
  • Perform basic VMC programming / editing and make necessary offsets or adjustments to achieve desired output.
  • Conduct in-process inspection using measuring instruments including vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, dial indicators, etc.
  • Monitor machine performance, identify issues, and ensure optimal machining accuracy and surface finish.
  • Maintain machine cleanliness, perform routine checks, and coordinate with maintenance for preventive maintenance activities.
  • Follow safety procedures and maintain proper documentation related to production and inspection.

Preferred Candidate Profile

  • Qualification: Diploma in Mechanical Engineering / ITI (Fitter / Machinist / Turner / Tool & Die)
  • Experience: 1 to 3 years working as a VMC Operator in a manufacturing or machining environment.
  • Strong knowledge of VMC machine operations, machine zero setting, tool offset setting, and work offset setting.
  • Understanding of VMC programming (basic) and ability to perform minor program modifications.
  • Hands-on experience with tooling selection and machining parameters.
  • Sound knowledge of GD&T and usage of measuring instruments.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings accurately.
  • Good communication skills, teamwork ability, and willingness to work in shifts if required.
